An experienced playwright and director, Paul’s most recent production was in September 2014,  ‘Bubble and Squeak’, which played at Rolling Stock and The Bridge in Shoreditch to excellent reviews and a last night standing ovation. It premiered at the London Theatre, for the Lewisham Fringe Festival, November 2013.

Meanwhile, Paul’s site specific play ‘The Glitch and Turn‘ enjoyed another run to packed houses at Rolling Stock, Shoreditch, and the Old King’s Head in London Bridge, in the summer of 2014.

Paul has just is overseen the final edit of powerful new short film ‘Johnny Legbreaker’, for which he was nominated for Best Director at the Watergate Film Festival. 

His second play, ‘Not Gods But Giants’, was invited to be England’s representative at the prestigious Traverse, Edinburgh, produced and directed by Paul with his company ‘Theatre Treasures Theatre Co’. He developed and directed a showcase of anew play Mural’ by Karen Farini at the Lilian Bayliss Theatre, Sadlers Wells. His play ‘Cherry Picnic’, ran for three weeks at The Old Red Lion to excellent reviews, and his production of a new site-specific play ‘Dried and Roasted at the Glitch and Turn’ ran for four years in London, including shows at the Southwark Playhouse, before its highly successful revival in August 2014.

After producing an initial run of his play ‘Egon Schiele at the Duke of Cambridge, directed by Tony James, he produced and directed a second well-received three week run at The White Bear, donating all proceeds to St. Luke’s Hospice, Basildon.

Further plays have been accepted at festivals all over the country, including The Bury Fringe Festival, and at The Carriageway, Leeds.

As a writer he is also a member of the BBC’s Inclusion Zone.

Paul is the director and writer of short film, ‘Connections’ (see The Bubble and Squeak page), and the promo below for ‘The Tight Shorts Club’, with Vaz Blackwood (see below).

Paul has written and directed an internet series, ‘Arthur Schemmings – The Relentless Rise of a Modern Master’, with Tom Hopper from BBC 1’s ‘Merlin’, and Bubble and Squeak’s own Charlie Clapham, from Hollyoaks, Channel 4 (Episode 1 is below).

Paul has now produced and directed 14 showcases with The Bubble and Squeak Collective, initially converting a warehouse in Hackney E9 into a temporary theatre, where he directed ‘Pearl and the Vestment’ by Tommy Kearney, and then produced more shows at The Pleasance, The Winterflood Theatre and The Phoenix Artist’s Club, Soho.

He has also initiated and devised numerous ‘Invisible Theatre’ experiments on unsuspecting audiences, at places such as King’s Cross Overground, McDonalds, Starbucks, London, and on The Northern Line.

He has assisted in the casting of several feature films, including ‘This Is Essex’, ‘Zebra Crossing’ and ‘Community’, a pilot for TV ‘Plastic Gangsters’ as well as casting many read-throughs and short films.

Paul has also taught, and devised, courses for The Society of Friends, and at The City Academy, The International School of Screen Acting, The Emporium (Brighton), Farnborough College, and at The Compass Theatre, and APT Drama School.

He is frequent judge at ELSC’s dualogue slam events in East London.

In Sept 2017 he opens his own drama school ‘ The Bubble and Squeak School of Drama’.
